GSA South Weekly Reminder

Dear gator parent/guardians,

Below are your reminders for the upcoming week.  To access previous reminders or forms please utilize the School Notification link.  If you have any questions, contact the main office at 314-669-9000 or email

  • GSA South’s Annual Culture Night will be virtual this year and is on Wednesday, April 14 from 6-7:30 PM. Please use the link to access the website where everyone will be able to join in on the fun.  Culture Night Flyer

  • Your Input Is Needed in order for administration and the superintendent to make future improvements at GSA South.  We need at least 50% of our Gator Families to click on the link.  Your responses are completely confidential and will not be connected to you or your child.  The survey will be open through May 7th. Click on the 5 Essentials Survey Family Letter link for additional information.

    • 4th and 5th grade students will also complete a survey.  If you would like to deny your child the opportunity to share his/her thoughts about GSA South, complete and return the 5 Essentials Survey Opt Out form.

  • Re-Entry Reminders It’s important for all students to have on shoes that remain securely fastened to the foot with an enclosed toe.  It is also important for all students to have a water bottle with a screw on top.

  • Kids Vision for Life Free Screening has been rescheduled to Monday, April 12th.  Students who need them, have the opportunity to receive same-day glasses for free.  You can register by completing a KVFL Consent Form – English or the KVFL Consent Form – Spanish.  You may also register using the link.  A consent form needs to be completed in order to participate.  In-person students will be pulled from class.  Virtual students may come to the bus, that will be parked on Kingshighway in front of the school, on the 12th between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM.  Students who passed the vision screening that was completed earlier in the year will not visit the bus.

  • GSA Students Deserve Equitable Funding and we are in critical need of even more parental participation.  To understand more about equitable funding through the #FixTheGlitch campaign please use this link for a YouTube video.  As a parent, if you would be interested in recording a short video, joining a local news segment, or writing an op-ed to a local newspaper sharing the value of increasing funding to charter schools in the St. Louis region, GSA South will help connect you so your voice can be heard.

  • Literacy Week Grand Prize Winners! The Literacy Committee would like to thank all students who participated in Literacy Week virtually.  We had six students who completed at least five activities and earned a treat and a chance to win the grand prize basket.

  • Congratulations to our Great Gators of the Week We are so excited to recognize the students who excel at being Respectful, Responsible and Safe.  Any student who is recognized this week will have an email sent to the primary parent/guardian with a certificate and directions on how to submit a photo that will go on the school’s Facebook page.  There will also be a link that will provide an option to reserve a time to pick up a congratulatory gift from Mrs. Gilliam, the building principal, for virtual students.  All other students may pick up their gift from the main office upon their return to school.

  • April Breakfast & Lunch Menu is now accessible through the April Lunch Menu link

  • Breakfast & Lunch Is Free for GSA students and community members ages 3-18.  Pickup will continue to be at GSA South on Mondays. If you have a GSA student and are interested in receiving a meal, make a request through the GSA Breakfast/Lunch Pickup link.  Your request needs to be logged by 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 11th for pickup from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Monday, April 19th.  For GSA students, meals are provided for the days students participate in virtual school.

  • Send Words of Encouragement to GSA South staff who display moments that impress you throughout the year by completing a Staff of the Week Nomination Form.  Anyone recognized will receive special acknowledgement from Mrs. Gilliam, the building principal.

  • Need Assistance with Virtual Learning?  A website has been created to help parents access in one spot answers to frequently asked questions, tutorials, even information about our breakfast/lunch program during virtual instruction.

  • IT Related Concerns around Chromebook hardware can be directed to GSA South’s IT department by emailing or calling 314-441-5577 on Monday through Friday from 8-3.  If you are needing one-on-one assistance, please contact the front office to make an appointment.  Concerns around Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc. should be directed to the classroom teacher.

With appreciation,

GSA South
